Last updated · 15 June 2026

This policy explains what personal information OpenRides collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

OpenRides is operated by Unicom Infosol. We are the data fiduciary responsible for the personal data you share with us when you use our website and rental services.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account & contact details — your name, mobile number, email and password.
  • Verification & KYC — driving licence and government ID details needed to rent a vehicle.
  • Booking details — pickup and drop locations, dates, vehicle preferences and trip type.
  • Support messages — anything you send us through the contact form, email or chat.

Information we collect automatically

  • Device & usage data — IP address, browser type, pages viewed and similar log data.
  • Cookies — to keep you signed in, remember preferences and measure how the site is used.

Information from others

  • Payment status — confirmation of payments from our payment partner, Razorpay. We do not receive or store your full card or bank details.

3. How we use your information

  • to create your account and verify your eligibility to rent;
  • to process bookings, payments, deposits, refunds and one-way matching;
  • to send booking confirmations, pickup reminders and service updates by SMS and email;
  • to provide support, handle disputes and recover charges where due;
  • to keep the platform secure and prevent fraud; and
  • to meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations.

4. Communications

We send transactional messages (such as OTPs, booking confirmations and reminders) as part of the service. Where we send promotional messages, you can opt out at any time without affecting transactional messages.

5. Sharing your information

We share personal data only as needed, with:

  • service providers who help us operate (payment processing, SMS/email delivery, hosting, analytics);
  • the vehicle owner or dealer fulfilling your booking, to the extent needed for handover and return;
  • authorities, insurers or legal advisers where required by law or to handle an incident or claim.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to run the site and sign you in, plus optional analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then for the period required to meet legal, tax, accounting and dispute-resolution obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • delete data we no longer need to keep; and
  • withdraw consent for optional processing such as marketing.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first.

10. Children

OpenRides is not directed at children under 18, and renting requires a valid driving licence. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time and will post the current version here with its effective date.

12. Contact & grievances
